On LineageOS 23.2 how to use ADB to get 3-button navigation height?

On LineageOS 23.2 (Android 16-based), with 3-button navigation enabled, use one of these:

Simplest — read the window frame:

bash
adb shell dumpsys window windows | sed -n '/Window .*NavigationBar.*:/,/Window .*:/p' | grep -E 'Requested|Frames|mFrame'

The NavigationBar window's frame height (bottom edge minus top edge) is the bar height in pixels. (Android Enthusiasts)

Alternative — SurfaceFlinger:

bash
adb shell dumpsys SurfaceFlinger | grep -i navigation

This lists the NavigationBar layer with its dimensions. (Android Enthusiasts)

Alternative — WindowInsets via dumpsys:

bash
adb shell dumpsys window | grep -A2 -i "NavigationBar"

On recent Android versions the insets (including nav bar height) appear in the WindowManager dump.

Notes:

  • Make sure 3-button nav is active (Settings → System → Gestures → System navigation) and the bar is visible, otherwise the NavigationBar window won't report the height.
  • Typical values are ~48dp × density (e.g. 132px at 420dpi / 2.625x, often 126–160px depending on device).
  • adb shell wm size won't help — it gives full screen size only. (Android Enthusiasts)
