How to show the LineageOS 23.2 volume status as attached without pressing a volume key, but possibly with ADB?

Yes — the volume panel shown in your screenshot can be brought up over ADB without touching the hardware keys. Two options, both work on LineageOS 23.2 (Android 16) with no root:

1. cmd media_session with --show (best — doesn't change the volume)

bash
adb shell cmd media_session volume --show --stream 3 --adj same

The --show flag forces the volume UI to appear while the volume is adjusted; combining it with --adj same pops the slider up without actually raising/lowering anything (Stack Overflow). Useful variants:

  • --set INDEX to move the slider to a specific level, e.g. --show --stream 3 --set 11
  • --get to just read the current level without any UI
  • other streams: 0 = ringer/quiet mode, 2 = (deprecated), 3 = media, 4 = alarm

2. Inject a volume key event

bash
adb shell input keyevent KEYCODE_VOLUME_UP

This pops up the same panel, but it genuinely raises the volume by one step (keycode 24; KEYCODE_VOLUME_DOWN is 25), so option 1 is usually preferable.

Caveats: the screen must be on and unlocked for the overlay to render, and since Android 11+ the media binary is gone — you must go through cmd media_session as above (Android Enthusiasts). If you don't want the panel at all, just drop --show and the volume changes silently.
